SAC Member Porel Aung Thein Provides Humanitarian Support and Oversees Reconstruction Efforts in Loikaw

Loikaw, The Gulf Observer: Member of the State Administration Council (SAC) Porel Aung Thein, accompanied by Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin and senior officials, visited Loikaw to deliver essential support to communities temporarily displaced by recent terrorist attacks.
At a humanitarian aid event, the SAC member and state chief minister emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining security, stability, and the rule of law. They also addressed ongoing efforts to ensure systematic accommodation, access to water, electricity, healthcare, and education, as well as support for agriculture, livestock, and the resumption of traditional livelihoods.
During the ceremony, food supplies were distributed to displaced families. The delegation also donated rice and religious offerings to the Kyaunghtine monastic training school.
Later, at the Training School for Development of Nationalities Youth from Border Areas in Dawnokuu Ward, SAC member Porel Aung Thein met with staff and students, stressing the government’s commitment to uplifting youth from border communities and the importance of recognizing this goodwill. Cash incentives were presented, and the school compound was inspected.
The SAC member and officials visited the traditional flagstaff hall in Htaythama Ward, which was damaged in a terrorist attack. During a meeting with the Kyayhtoeboe board of trustees, they instructed the restoration of the main hall and planning of traditional cultural festivals.
On the morning of 28 July, the delegation met with healthcare workers at Loikaw’s 500-bed General Hospital, where they donated funds for medical support, food for staff, and visited patients to offer comfort and nutritional aid.
The SAC team also met with students and teachers from the Agricultural and Livestock School (Chikel) at BEHS 2 Loikaw, providing food supplies and reviewing school maintenance and the learning environment.
At the State Hall in Loikaw, they participated in a donation ceremony for local churches, offering both food and financial support.
In Nwalawoe village, they met with local farmers and provided urea fertilizer for monsoon paddy cultivation to farmers from Nwalawoe and Htiri villages.
The visit concluded with an inspection of the 33/11kV 5MVA Kayan Thaya power substation, which had sustained significant damage from a terrorist attack. Once fully repaired, the substation will restore electricity to several key areas including Loikaw’s downtown wards, industrial zone, and surrounding villages such as Htiri, Kontha, Saungkan, Warikawkhu, Pikinkawkhu, and Moebye along the Loikaw–Moebye Road.
The visit underscored the government’s continued efforts to stabilize affected regions, restore essential services, and provide direct support to vulnerable communities.
