MUI Praises President Prabowo’s Swift Measures to Safeguard National Stability Amid Protests

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has commended President Prabowo Subianto for his prompt and decisive actions to preserve national stability amid the wave of protests that have unfolded across the country over the past week.

“The MUI would like to extend tremendous appreciation to the Indonesian president for taking swift and responsive measures to ensure national security and stability,” said Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, Deputy Chair of the MUI Advisory Board, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He emphasized that the MUI fully supports the government, the police, and the military in adopting firm yet proportionate steps to maintain public order and enforce the law.

“In our view, Mr. President has demonstrated a strong commitment to safeguarding national stability. We fully support the authorities in maintaining order and shielding the people from threats,” Sa’adi affirmed.

The former deputy minister of religious affairs also voiced regret over the violence and vandalism that accompanied the unrest, labeling such actions as contrary to moral and religious values. “The MUI strongly condemns all acts of violence, anarchism, and vandalism,” he said, extending condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the riots.

Sa’adi further urged all sectors of society to exercise restraint and avoid spreading false narratives that could erode national unity and integrity. He also appealed to religious leaders, educators, and community figures to play an active role in easing tensions and fostering peace.

“Public figures have a strategic role in promoting dialogue, discouraging violence, and strengthening harmony among interfaith communities. All these points are essential for the integrity of our nation,” he concluded.
