Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s domestic investment has approached Rp2,000 trillion during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, reflecting strong confidence among local businesses in the country’s economic prospects and development priorities.

The figure was disclosed by Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, during a presidential briefing held in Hambalang, Bogor District, West Java, according to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat.

Anindya said domestic investment had been contributed by businesses operating across various sectors and at different scales, including medium-sized enterprises, helping strengthen the resilience of Indonesia’s national economy.

He described domestic investment as a key foundation for expanding private-sector participation in national development, adding that businesses had considerable opportunities to contribute further to economic growth.

According to Anindya, Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP) stands at approximately Rp25,000 trillion, while the state budget accounts for around Rp4,000 trillion. He noted that the remaining 85 per cent of economic activity represented significant opportunities for businesses to expand their role in the national economy.

He reaffirmed Kadin’s commitment to encouraging investment in emerging industries while continuing to strengthen established industrial sectors.

Among the promising areas for future investment, he identified electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy and data centres, highlighting their potential to increase the utilisation of locally manufactured components and strengthen domestic industrial capacity.

Anindya made the remarks as Kadin outlined its business priorities during its national leadership meeting, held under the theme “People-Centered Economy and Indonesia Going Global.”

He also expressed confidence in Indonesia’s economic fundamentals, describing them as resilient despite prevailing global uncertainties. He said the country remained among the world’s promising economic destinations, echoing an assessment previously made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The Kadin chairman further emphasised the importance of strengthening the capabilities of regional entrepreneurs and medium-sized businesses, enabling them to expand operations, improve competitiveness and move higher in the business value chain.

He said increased domestic investment would not only accelerate national economic growth but also create wider opportunities for local enterprises to develop and emerge as major players in the future.

The development highlights the Indonesian Government’s efforts to strengthen domestic investment, promote industrial diversification and encourage greater private-sector participation in achieving sustainable economic growth under President Prabowo’s leadership.
