Big fine for importing plastic bags
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: An administrative fine of OMR1,000 will be imposed on anyone importing plastic bags.
Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, issued a Ministerial Decision No. 519/2022 banning the import of plastic bags.
The first article of the decision stipulates that companies, institutions and individuals are prohibited from importing plastic bags.
The second article says that an administrative fine of OMR1,000 shall be imposed on anyone who violates the provisions of this decision, and it shall be doubled if the violation is repeated.
Article three says that this decision shall come into force on January 1, 2023.
