Kazakh, Uzbek Presidents Jointly Launch $1.2 Billion Portfolio of Bilateral Projects

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Sunday participated via videoconference in a ceremony marking the launch of a series of major joint projects between the two countries, the Akorda press service announced.

A total of seven projects valued at $1.2 billion were inaugurated, spanning key sectors including industry, construction, petrochemicals, finance, logistics, and tourism. The wide-ranging initiatives reflect the growing strategic partnership and deepening economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

During the ceremony, the two leaders pressed a symbolic button to formally launch the projects, which include:

  • Central Asia International Industrial Cooperation Centre, located in the Syrdarya and Turkistan regions;
  • Headquarters of Tenge Bank in Tashkent;
  • Construction of a multi-functional logistics centre in the Tashkent region;
  • Astana residential building project in New Tashkent;
  • Petrochemical complex for linear alkylbenzene production in the Kashkadarya region;
  • Astana Hotel in New Tashkent;
  • Tashkent Hotel in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Officials from both sides emphasised that the new projects are expected to significantly strengthen regional connectivity, increase bilateral trade, and create new opportunities for investment and employment.

The ceremony underscored the commitment of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to further advancing their comprehensive cooperation and accelerating the implementation of large-scale, mutually beneficial initiatives.
