Turkmenistan Launches Nationwide Preparations for New Year Festivities

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Preparations for New Year festivities are underway across Turkmenistan, as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Baymyrat Annamammedov briefed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday during an online government meeting, according to official Turkmen media.

In the capital, Ashgabat, New Year trees will be installed at major cultural centers, along key avenues, in public parks, and at venues designated for festive cultural events. Special focus is being placed on the Main New Year Tree located in front of the Älem Cultural and Entertainment Center, along with beautification of the surrounding area.

President Berdimuhamedov underscored that all necessary conditions are being created to provide an enriching cultural atmosphere for residents and visitors of Ashgabat. He highlighted the importance of high-quality festive decorations and issued corresponding instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyyev also reported on preparations for International Neutrality Day and the New Year celebrations. Festive trade is set to begin on December 5 across all provinces, including Ashgabat and the city of Arkadag, with retail outlets, shopping centers, and markets preparing for increased demand. Plans have also been made to set up mobile trading points to enhance convenience for citizens.

President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to ensure ample supplies of essential food products—particularly fruits, vegetables, and melons—and directed the authorities to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of marketplaces and mobile retail points.

The session also reviewed several other key state matters, with relevant decisions adopted.
