Turkmenistan and Japan Sign 11 Bilateral Agreements During President Berdimuhamedov’s Visit to Tokyo

Tokyo, The Gulf Observer: During the working visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Tokyo, eleven bilateral documents were signed between Turkmenistan and Japan, marking a significant step in strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors.

According to the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH), President Berdimuhamedov met with executives and representatives of leading Japanese companies, including Sumitomo Corporation, Toyo Engineering Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Muroosystems Corporation, ITOCHU Corporation, Tokyo Boeki Eurasia Limited, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, ARGONAVT Corporation, Calik Holding, and Gap Inşaat ve Diş Ticaret A.Ş.

Following the meeting, a signing ceremony was held, formalizing agreements in areas such as transportation, energy, communications, digital technologies, banking, and higher education. Key documents include:

  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Automobile Transport of Turkmenistan and Sumitomo Corporation (Japan).
  • Memorandum of Cooperation between State Concern Türkmengaz and Sumitomo Corporation Europe Limited.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan and Mitsubishi Corporation Machinery, Inc. (Japan) on the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography and Sony Middle East and Africa FZE.
  • Cooperation Agreement between the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Turkmenistan and Mizuho Bank, Ltd.
  • Memoranda of Understanding between Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology and Tohoku University and Hirosaki University (Japan) on cooperation and student exchanges.
  • Memoranda of Understanding between State Concern Türkmenhimiýa and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, LTD, Toyo Engineering Corporation & Rönesans Endüstri Tesisleri (Turkey), and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries & Mitsubishi Corporation on technical maintenance, polymer plant production, and construction of a urea production complex in Turkmenistan.

The agreements highlight a broad and strategic partnership, encompassing industrial development, technology transfer, higher education, and energy sector projects, reinforcing Turkmenistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Japan in key sectors.
