Vietnam’s 14th National Party Congress Holds Preparatory Session

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) convened its preparatory session on Monday at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi, marking the start of the country’s most important political event.
The Congress is scheduled to run from January 19 to 23, 2026, under the motto “Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development.” Its overarching theme emphasizes unity and determination under the leadership of the Party to achieve national development goals toward 2030, while advancing with self-reliance and confidence in a new era of national rise, aimed at peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, well-being, and steady progress toward socialism.
A total of 1,586 delegates, representing more than 5.6 million Party members from across the country, are attending the Congress. Participants include senior Party and State leaders, representatives of central and local Party organizations, and delegates from key sectors nationwide.
The official opening session of the 14th National Party Congress is scheduled to take place on the morning of January 20.
The Congress is expected to review the Party’s achievements and challenges over the past term, set strategic orientations for national development in the coming years, and decide on key issues concerning the country’s political, economic, and social direction.
