Western Azerbaijan Community Condemns Anti-Peace Actions Undermining Azerbaijan–Armenia Reconciliation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Western Azerbaijan Community has expressed serious concern over what it described as a series of anti-peace actions taking place within and outside Armenia, which it said contradict the positive momentum in the Azerbaijan–Armenia reconciliation process.
In a formal statement, the Community noted that these developments come in the aftermath of the historic summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, with the participation of US President Donald Trump, and run counter to the spirit of the recent meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Abu Dhabi.
The statement strongly condemned what it termed a provocative ruling by a court in Armenia, which claimed that the so-called “decision on self-dissolution” of a fictitious entity by an individual identified as Samvel Shahramanyan was allegedly adopted under force or threat and was therefore legally invalid.
According to the Western Azerbaijan Community, the court’s decision is directly aimed against Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement questioned the legal grounds and mandate under which an Armenian court could interfere in the internal affairs of a sovereign state.
The Community further described the ruling as part of revanchist activities in Armenia that undermine peace efforts, particularly in the context of parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in the country this year.
Emphasizing its commitment to peace and reconciliation, the Western Azerbaijan Community stated that if the Armenian judiciary genuinely seeks to contribute to normalization between the two peoples, it should instead issue rulings condemning the deportation of Western Azerbaijanis from their ancestral lands, as well as the destruction of cemeteries and mosques.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the Community’s support for a lasting and just peace based on mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and historical justice.
