Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned what it described as a “cowardly, hideous and barbaric terrorist act” targeting the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In an official statement, the embassy denounced the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following confirmation by Iranian state media that he was killed in Israeli and United States strikes launched against Iran a day earlier.

Recalling what it termed the bravery, resistance, steadfastness, and lifelong devotion of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to the ideals of independence, dignity, and resistance, the embassy reaffirmed its “unwavering solidarity with the noble aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.”

The statement pledged firm commitment to the enduring principles of the Islamic Revolution, declaring that it would stand by what it called the “eternal aspirations of this Great Martyr until our last breath and the last droplet of our blood.”

Describing Khamenei as “a great historical figure,” the embassy compared his martyrdom to that of Imam Hussein (PBUH), stating that he was martyred bravely and did not surrender in the face of adversity. It termed him a “Great Martyr and tireless scholar,” whose struggles would remain recorded in history and serve as a model for free people around the world.

“The blood of the Great Leader has made the ever-green sapling of the Islamic Republic more fertile and resilient,” the statement added.

The embassy further emphasized that Iran is founded upon strong constitutional institutions and well-established legal mechanisms. It stressed that, relying on the constitutional framework established by the leaders of the Islamic Revolution and the sacrifices of martyrs, the country would ensure continuity of leadership and governance in full accordance with its Constitution.

It added that the Islamic Republic would elect new leadership and continue on what it described as its spiritual and humane path with unity, resilience, and steadfast determination.

According to reports, Khamenei, 86, was killed in what has been described as one of the most extensive series of attacks on Iran in decades, which have so far resulted in 201 fatalities and more than 700 injuries.
