Tokyo, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has arrived in Tokyo for his inaugural official state visit to Japan since assuming office, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across key sectors.

According to a statement issued by the Presidential Secretariat, President Prabowo and his delegation landed at Haneda Airport at 7:10 p.m. local time on Sunday, where he was received by Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii, Chief of Protocol Tadayuki Miyashita, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, and the Indonesian defence attaché.

Following the official استقبال, the Indonesian leader proceeded to his hotel to rest ahead of scheduled engagements.

President Prabowo is visiting Japan at the invitation of Emperor Naruhito and is expected to hold meetings with the monarch as well as with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

The visit coincides with the 68th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan, which have been marked by strong cooperation across economic, political, and socio-cultural domains.

Earlier, Indonesia’s Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi stated that President Prabowo intends to utilize the visit to deepen partnerships in key areas, including trade, technology, education, forestry, and environmental cooperation.

The President departed Jakarta earlier on Sunday from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Notably, President Prabowo had previously visited Japan in September last year, where he toured the Indonesian Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, though no high-level meetings were held during that trip.
