Qatar, Portugal FMs Discuss Regional Developments, Welcome US-Iran Ceasefire

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Qatar, received a telephone call from Paulo Rangel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Portugal, according to the Qatar News Agency.

During the call, the two sides reviewed the latest regional developments, particularly in light of the recently announced ceasefire between the United States and the Iran, along with a number of issues of mutual interest.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman reaffirmed Qatar’s welcome of the ceasefire announcement, emphasizing the importance of building on the development swiftly to prevent any further escalation of tensions in the region.

He also underscored the need to ensure the security of maritime routes and safeguard freedom of navigation and international trade in accordance with international law, stressing that such measures are essential for maintaining regional stability and protecting global supply chains.

The discussion reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement between Qatar and Portugal on key regional and international issues.
