President Ilham Aliyev Says Ethnic and Religious Diversity is Safeguarded as a National Treasure in Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has said that relations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See are developing on a positive trajectory, based on mutual respect and understanding, and are gaining new substance day by day.

In a congratulatory letter addressed to Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of the anniversary of his election, the Azerbaijani President expressed satisfaction over the strengthening ties between the two sides.

President Aliyev noted that the relationship between Azerbaijan and the Holy See serves important objectives, including the promotion of interfaith harmony, cultural diversity, and the strengthening of mutual trust among civilizations at the global level.

He underlined that Azerbaijan, recognized internationally as one of the centers of multiculturalism, upholds ethnic and religious diversity as a national value. The President emphasized that equal conditions are ensured for all religious communities in the country.

“We take pride in the fact that Azerbaijan is a place where people belonging to different religions and faiths live in an atmosphere of kindness and mutual understanding,” President Aliyev stated in his message.

The President reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to preserving its model of multicultural coexistence, highlighting it as a foundation for social harmony and national unity.
