Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: A meeting of the regional “Summer-2026” Headquarters on organizing summer recreation programs for children and adolescents was held at the Council of Trade Unions of Sughd Region, according to the press service of the Chairman of Sughd Region.

The meeting brought together headquarters members, deputy chairpersons of cities and districts, officials from the regional education department, heads of sectoral trade union committees, directors of local education departments, trade union representatives of education workers, managers of out-of-town summer camps, as well as representatives of the regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Center and the Fire Service Directorate.

Participants reviewed the implementation of the Government of Tajikistan’s February 26, 2026 resolution on the organization of summer recreation for children and adolescents, as well as the April 27, 2026 decree of the Chairman of Sughd Region on the same issue. The meeting also examined the readiness of out-of-town summer camps and recreational facilities for the 2026 summer season.

During the session, officials discussed existing shortcomings and stressed the need for responsible institutions to address deficiencies promptly to ensure that summer recreation activities for children and adolescents are conducted at the required standard across the region.

According to the government resolution, all construction, renovation, and equipment installation works at summer camps, sports grounds, swimming pools, and recreational facilities were to be completed by June 1. Landscaping and tree-planting activities were also required to be finalized, with reports on the readiness of facilities submitted to the Government of Tajikistan.

The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan has been tasked with utilizing funds allocated from the social insurance and pension budget to purchase camp vouchers for children and adolescents, including orphans, vulnerable children, children from low-income families, gifted students, children of workers from various sectors, and children living in state-supported boarding schools who lack the financial means to obtain such opportunities through other sources.

The resolution also directs the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan to provide methodological guidance for organizing summer recreation programs, ensure the effective implementation of educational and extracurricular activities, and supply camps with qualified teaching personnel.

In addition, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population has been instructed to ensure that recreational, sports, and health camps are staffed with the necessary medical professionals and that sanitary and hygiene standards are strictly monitored throughout the summer season.

The “Summer-2026” initiative aims to provide safe, educational, and healthy recreational opportunities for children and adolescents across Tajikistan during the school holiday period.
