Baku, The Gulf Observer: The opening ceremaony of the Culture Days of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was held in Baku, bringing together government officials, cultural figures, and guests to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and growing ties between Azerbaijan and the TRNC.

The event took place in the historic Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve, one of Azerbaijan’s most significant cultural landmarks.

Addressing the ceremony, Rufat Mahmud, Chairman of the Board of the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve, underscored the historical and cultural importance of the venue.

“Icherisheher has for centuries served as a meeting point of diverse cultures, traditions, and civilizations. Hosting the Culture Days of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus here is a remarkable event. Today, Icherisheher continues to function as an important cultural platform presenting the culture, music, and art of different peoples, and its doors always remain open to culture,” Mahmud said.

The ceremony was attended by Ünal Üstel, Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; Fikri Ataoğlu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment; and Javanshir Feyziyev, Chairman of the Working Group on Azerbaijan–TRNC Interparliamentary Relations at the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis.

In their remarks, the speakers praised the continued strengthening of friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. They emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in deepening mutual understanding and fostering closer cooperation between the two sides.

Participants highlighted that active working groups operating in various sectors are contributing to the steady expansion of bilateral relations. They also noted that Azerbaijan and the TRNC continue to implement a range of joint initiatives and projects in the fields of culture, art, and tourism, further enhancing people-to-people ties.

The opening ceremony featured a vibrant cultural program, including musical performances that showcased the rich artistic heritage, traditions, and national-spiritual values of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The Culture Days event is expected to provide a valuable platform for cultural exchange, strengthen cooperation between cultural institutions, and promote greater awareness of the TRNC’s cultural legacy among Azerbaijani audiences.

The celebration reflects the growing cultural partnership between Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and underscores the role of cultural initiatives in strengthening bilateral relations and preserving shared values.
