Kazakhstan Honours AD Ports Group CEO with Order of Friendship
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has awarded Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of AD Ports Group, the prestigious Order of Friendship in recognition of his outstanding contribution to strengthening economic cooperation and supply chain development between the United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan.
The honour was presented during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Astana, acknowledging Captain Al Shamisi’s role in advancing bilateral trade and investment relations. Over the past four years, AD Ports Group has committed more than AED2.9 billion in investments across Kazakhstan’s shipping, ports and logistics sectors.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Captain Al Shamisi said he was honoured to receive the Order of Friendship from President Tokayev, describing the award as a reflection of the strong and growing partnership between the UAE and Kazakhstan.
He said the recognition underscored the success of both countries’ joint efforts to expand trade and investment cooperation and reaffirmed AD Ports Group’s commitment, under the guidance of the UAE leadership, to working closely with Kazakh partners on projects that strengthen regional connectivity and support Kazakhstan’s long-term sustainable development.
AD Ports Group has established a significant presence in Kazakhstan, where its tanker fleet transports Kazakh oil across the Caspian Sea to western pipeline networks in Azerbaijan. The Group is also co-developing the Sarzha Grain Terminal at Kuryk Port with local partners and operates a Central Asian logistics joint venture with KTZ Express, the freight subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways.
These initiatives support the development and commercialisation of the Middle Corridor, a strategic overland trade route linking Asia, Central Asia and Europe with global markets, further enhancing regional connectivity and international trade.
The Order of Friendship is one of Kazakhstan’s highest civilian honours and is awarded to distinguished individuals, diplomats, business leaders and public figures who have made exceptional contributions to strengthening friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and other nations.
