Hanoi, Rome Sign Joint Statement to Deepen Comprehensive Bilateral Cooperation
Rome, The Gulf Observer: The capitals of Việtnam and Italy have taken a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties, as Hànội and Rome signed a joint statement aimed at expanding comprehensive cooperation across multiple sectors.
The agreement was signed during a working visit to Italy by a Hà Nội delegation led by Trần Đình Cảnh, Member of the Standing Board of the Hà Nội Party Committee and Chairman of the committee’s Inspection Board. The delegation held talks with Rome authorities on July 27 (local time), during which both sides welcomed the steady progress in Việt Nam–Italy relations and the growing partnership between the two capital cities.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing exchanges and broadening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, contributing to the effective implementation of the Việt Nam–Italy Strategic Partnership in its new phase of development.
On the occasion, Vice Chairman of the Hànội People’s Committee Bùi Duy Cường and President of the Rome City Council Svetlana Celli signed the joint statement between the Hànội People’s Committee and the Rome City Government, establishing a framework for more substantive cooperation over the next two years.
The agreement identifies six priority areas for collaboration: urban management and regeneration, environmental protection and sustainable development, education and culture, social development, integration and innovation, and the economy, trade, and investment.
Both sides also agreed to strengthen the exchange of expertise in preserving, restoring, and promoting the value of architectural landmarks and historical-cultural heritage sites while advancing urban redevelopment initiatives.
Officials described heritage conservation as a practical area of cooperation that aligns with Hà Nội’s long-term development strategy and provides an opportunity for the Vietnamese capital to benefit from Italy’s internationally recognized experience in preserving historic cities while ensuring sustainable urban growth.
