Baku Resort & Spa Inaugurated on Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul Lake
Cholpon-Ata, The Gulf Observer: A new five-star Baku Resort & Spa Hotel was officially inaugurated on Friday on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan, marking a major milestone in tourism cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and First Lady Aigul Zhaparova, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and First Lady Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
During the event, Ramin Guluzade, Head of the Administrative Services Department of the President of Azerbaijan, briefed the participating heads of state and first ladies on the facilities and features of the newly completed resort, located in the village of Kara-Oy in the Issyk-Kul region.
The Baku Resort & Spa was developed under a bilateral investment agreement signed in Bishkek in 2023 between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan for the construction of a five-star hotel on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake.
Spread across more than 17 hectares, the resort has been designed as a premium destination that combines modern architecture with culture, art, gastronomy, wellness, and recreation. The complex comprises 111 guest rooms and 10 luxury cottages, with the capacity to accommodate up to 330 visitors.
The project is expected to generate 255 jobs during its initial phase, with a number of positions to be filled by Azerbaijani citizens, reflecting the collaborative nature of the initiative.
The resort offers a wide range of wellness and leisure facilities, including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an aqua park, a year-round beach, and comprehensive recreational amenities. Guests will also experience Azerbaijani culinary traditions through restaurants serving authentic national cuisine, including traditional Azerbaijani breakfasts.
In addition, the complex features extensive entertainment and sports facilities, including a bowling and gaming zone, a cinema, a multifunctional outdoor sports ground, and modern conference and event spaces designed for international meetings, corporate gatherings, and social functions.
Situated on the shores of Issyk-Kul, the world’s second-largest mountain lake, the resort benefits from one of Kyrgyzstan’s most renowned tourist destinations, celebrated for its scenic landscapes, mineral-rich waters, and year-round opportunities for recreation, wellness, and cultural tourism.
Officials said the opening of the Baku Resort & Spa is expected to provide a significant boost to the tourism industry in the Issyk-Kul region while reinforcing its reputation as a leading international destination. The project also reflects the growing strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan and further strengthens the longstanding ties of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.
