Azerbaijan to Establish Three New Tourism and Recreation Zones by 2030

Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan plans to establish three new tourism and recreation zones between 2027 and 2030 under the State Program for the Development of Tourism in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030.

Under the program, at least three tourism centers will be established within the new tourism and recreation zones, with each center equipped with the necessary infrastructure.

The initiative envisages the creation and development of social, cultural, administrative, engineering and communications infrastructure, as well as state-owned highways and road transport facilities serving the tourism centers.

The implementation of the projects is expected to stimulate entrepreneurial activity by attracting private investment to infrastructure-equipped tourism centers and promoting public-private partnership initiatives.

The State Tourism Agency has been designated as the main implementing authority. The Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency and relevant local executive authorities will serve as co-executors.

A tourism and recreation zone is a designated area intended for leisure, entertainment and sports activities, while also contributing to environmental protection and creating favorable conditions for residents and visitors.

The initiative is part of Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to expand tourism infrastructure, attract investment and support sustainable tourism development across the country.
