Oman, UN Chief Discuss Regional Developments, Humanitarian Situation

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi received a telephone call on Thursday from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, during which they discussed regional developments and their humanitarian repercussions.

The two sides reviewed ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and create favourable conditions for the resumption of dialogue and diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing outstanding issues through political means.

Guterres commended the constructive role played by the Sultanate of Oman in supporting diplomatic initiatives and facilitating the bridging of differing views. He underscored the importance of continued coordination and consultations between Oman and the United Nations to strengthen de-escalation efforts and support the humanitarian response.

For his part, Sayyid Badr emphasized the need to further intensify diplomatic efforts, exercise wisdom and restraint, and provide sufficient space for political and diplomatic initiatives to contain tensions and address issues of concern.

He stressed that sustained diplomatic engagement would contribute to strengthening security, stability and peace across the region.
