Azerbaijan Reaffirms Support for Peaceful Resolution of Jammu and Kashmir Dispute

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with international law and relevant international legal frameworks.

Bayramov made the remarks while addressing a meeting of the Contact Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Jammu and Kashmir, held on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the minister reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to resolving the dispute peacefully and in accordance with international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

Bayramov also emphasized the importance of promoting regional peace and stability through the normalization of relations between India and Pakistan.

The meeting brought the issue of Jammu and Kashmir into discussion within the framework of the OIC Contact Group, with emphasis on peaceful approaches, adherence to international law and efforts aimed at strengthening stability in the region.
