Turkmenistan, China intend to develop new cargo routes to Europe
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: At the first meeting of the subcommittee on transport and logistics cooperation of the China-Turkmen Cooperation Committee held in Beijing, representatives of Turkmenistan and China emphasised the importance of exploring the possibility of creating new profitable routes for cargo delivery from China to Europe via Central Asia using the transport corridors of both countries, the Transport and Logistics Centre of Turkmenistan (TULM) reported.
The Turkmen delegation at the meeting was led by the General Director of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mammethan Chakyev and the Chinese side – Deputy Minister of Transport Li Yang, the Chinese Ministry of Transport reports. The meeting participants also noted the upbeat pace of development of transport and logistics cooperation between China and Turkmenistan.
During the event, it was noted that China’s transport department is willing to develop international transport exchanges and bring transport cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
At the end of the meeting, Mammethan Chakyev and Li Yang signed the minutes of the subcommittee’s first China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee meeting on transport and logistics cooperation.
Within the framework of the meeting, the General Director of JSC Transport and Logistics Centre of Turkmenistan and a representative of China Railway International Multimodal Transport Co. Ltd held a bilateral meeting to discuss increasing the volume of transit cargo and railway container transport.
