Air Routes Closed, Sialkot Airport Suspends Commercial Flights Amid Escalating Tensions

Air Routes

Lahore, The Gulf Observer: Several air routes in Pakistan’s eastern region, including Lahore and Sialkot, have been closed for commercial flight operations following a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued early Thursday morning.

According to the NOTAM, seven air routes within the Lahore Flight Information Region (FIR) are affected and will remain closed until noon today. The closure is part of precautionary airspace management measures amid the heightened military tensions between Pakistan and India.

Additionally, Sialkot Airport has suspended all commercial flight operations until noon, in line with the directive. No specific reason was mentioned in the NOTAM, but aviation officials have confirmed the move aligns with ongoing security protocols.

The temporary airspace restrictions come amid a volatile security environment following recent cross-border military escalations. Authorities have urged travelers to stay updated on flight schedules and check with airlines for the latest information.
