Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia Strengthen Bilateral Ties in High-Level Meeting

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with his Saudi Arabian counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, during an official visit, reaffirming the strong and growing partnership between the two nations.
The meeting commenced with a one-on-one dialogue between the ministers, followed by an expanded session involving both delegations. Discussions centered on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, regional and international developments, and collaborative efforts within organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Both sides underscored the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that high-level contacts and mutual respect between the leaderships of both nations continue to provide significant momentum for expanding relations. They further highlighted the vital role of diplomatic engagements in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening strategic cooperation.
The ministers reviewed a wide range of topics, including political, economic, trade, investment, energy, and humanitarian cooperation. In particular, they commended the work of the Joint Commission on Cooperation as a key platform for advancing bilateral ties. The discussions also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power company as a significant contributor to Azerbaijan’s renewable energy sector.
With Azerbaijan preparing to host the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), the ministers explored opportunities for joint initiatives in green energy and environmental protection, recognizing the event as a new avenue for collaboration.
Minister Bayramov provided an update on the post-conflict situation in the region, outlining large-scale reconstruction projects in the liberated territories and ongoing demining efforts. He expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s support in these areas.
The talks also covered developments in the Middle East, including the situation in Gaza, with both ministers stressing the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring regional stability.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to further enhancing cooperation across various fields, reaffirming the strong and enduring partnership between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.
