Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan Reaffirm Commitment to Deepening Strategic Partnership

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on expanding interparliamentary cooperation as a key pillar of their strategic partnership.

The commitment was underscored during a meeting between Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Huseyn Guliyev, who is concluding his diplomatic mission in the country. The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between the two nations.

Both sides described Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations as being founded on friendship, brotherhood, mutual trust, and strategic alliance. They noted that the close political dialogue and the strong commitment of the leadership of both countries have elevated bilateral ties to an unprecedented level.

Narbayeva highlighted that parliamentary diplomacy has become an increasingly important component of bilateral engagement, stressing the need to further strengthen cooperation between the legislatures of the two countries. The meeting also reviewed progress in enhancing the legal framework governing bilateral relations and expanding collaboration in trade, investment, regional development, culture, and humanitarian affairs.

The two sides emphasized the importance of increasing exchanges between parliamentary committees and friendship groups, sharing legislative experience, strengthening parliamentary oversight, and enhancing coordination within international parliamentary organizations. They noted that such cooperation would contribute to the effective implementation of agreements reached by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to further advancing their comprehensive strategic partnership and expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
