Azerbaijani Diaspora in Belgium Meets with State Committee Chairman Fuad Muradov

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with representatives of the Azerbaijani community in Belgium during a gathering held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The meeting commenced with the playing of the National Anthem and a moment of silence in honor of Azerbaijan’s martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In his address, Chairman Muradov highlighted the effective implementation of Azerbaijan’s diaspora policy under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, stating that Azerbaijani communities abroad have become increasingly active and influential following Azerbaijan’s historic victory. He underscored their critical role in the information war, diplomatic advocacy, and lobbying efforts aimed at promoting Azerbaijan’s national interests.

Participants were briefed on systematic and strategic projects designed to foster greater unity and cooperation among Azerbaijanis living abroad.

Ambassador Vagif Sadigov, Azerbaijan’s envoy to Belgium and Luxembourg, welcomed the initiative and commended the diaspora’s continued dedication to strengthening ties with the homeland and promoting national culture internationally.

The event brought together representatives of several Azerbaijani organizations, including:

  • “Fireland” Azerbaijani Community Association
  • Belgium Azerbaijan Federation (BAF)
  • MADANI – Cultural, Sports, Thought, Solidarity and Future Opportunities Platform for Azerbaijanis
  • Radio Octo
  • BUTAM Azerbaijani Cultural Association
  • IRS-Azerbaijan Belgium Student Association

Each group reported on their recent activities and shared ideas for improving diaspora engagement. Speakers emphasized the effectiveness of building unity through modern communication platforms and expressed enthusiasm for future community gatherings.

In recognition of his contributions, Ayhan Demirci, Chair of the Belgium–Azerbaijan Friendship Society, was awarded the “For Service in Diaspora Activities” medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Additionally, a coordinator for Belgium was elected as part of the Netherlands–Belgium Azerbaijani Coordination Council, marking a step forward in enhancing organizational cooperation across the region.

The meeting concluded with a vibrant cultural performance, as Azerbaijani children and youth captivated the audience with traditional music and dance, receiving enthusiastic applause and praise.

The gathering underscored Azerbaijan’s ongoing commitment to engaging with its global diaspora and strengthening cultural and national bonds abroad.
