Azerbaijani Documentary ‘Step’ Selected for Screening at International Film Festival
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijani short documentary “Step” (Addım) has been selected for the official screening program in the documentary category at the Dreamz Catcher International Film Festival in India, marking another international recognition for the country’s documentary filmmaking.
According to media reports, the film tells the story of Hasanali Alizade, a survivor who sustained severe injuries in a landmine explosion. Through his personal journey, the documentary sheds light on the lasting human impact of landmine incidents while drawing attention to the ongoing humanitarian challenges faced in post-conflict areas.
Directed by Elnur Abbasov and produced by Rashad Mehdiyev, the documentary seeks to raise global awareness about the dangers posed by landmine contamination and amplify the voices and experiences of survivors before an international audience.
The project was produced by Today Media and Documentary on behalf of the Gilavar Photo Club Public Union and received financial support from the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations.
The selection of “Step” for the Dreamz Catcher International Film Festival highlights Azerbaijan’s continued efforts to use documentary cinema as a platform to address humanitarian issues and promote greater international awareness of the long-term consequences of landmine contamination.
