Belarus to Participate in Eurasian Data Protection Congress on 24-25 October

Eurasian Data Protection Congress

Minsk, The Gulf Observer: According to the report of News Hub Consultants, Belarus will take part in the Eurasian Data Protection Congress, which is set to be held online across three countries—Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan—on 24-25 October. This event is organized by personal data protection communities and associations, providing an international platform for professional discussions, knowledge exchange, and sharing best practices in the field of data protection and information security.

Experts from various companies, state institutions, and public organizations involved in personal data protection will join the congress. According to Olga Shibko, Deputy Head of the Department of Educational Services and Public Relations at the National Personal Data Protection Center of Belarus, the congress will cover topics such as data protection strategies, trends in big data processing, legislative developments, and the role of data protection officers (DPOs) in business.

The National Personal Data Protection Center of Belarus will present information on the country’s legal framework for data protection and share successful cases of its implementation in organizations. Belarus aims to strike a balance between the interests of data-processing operators and citizens, ensuring that individuals retain control over their personal data while organizations can process it responsibly.

Shibko highlighted that personal data has gained significant economic value over the past decade, with some operators using it without proper consent for commercial purposes. The Belarusian law on personal data protection is designed to give citizens more control over their data while ensuring robust protection during its processing in information systems.

The congress will provide a critical forum for addressing these issues and exploring future trends in data protection across the Eurasian region.
