Bulgarian President Rumen Radev Participates in 10th Three Seas Initiative Summit in Warsaw

10th Three Seas I

Warsaw, The Gulf Observer: Bulgarian President Rumen Radev is attending the 10th edition of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, held in Warsaw, where leaders from 13 EU countries between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas are gathered to promote greater regional connectivity and economic cooperation. This year’s summit also includes Ukraine and Moldova as associated members and features strategic participation from the European Commission, Germany, the United States, and Japan.

The milestone summit, hosted by Poland, places a strong emphasis on boosting infrastructure development, particularly in transportation, energy, and digital sectors across Central and Eastern Europe. Despite representing a population of more than 120 million and contributing around €1.8 trillion—or 14%—to the EU’s annual GDP, the region continues to face challenges in aligning infrastructure standards with broader EU levels.

President Radev joined other regional leaders to explore strategies for strengthening economic ties and leveraging the region’s unique geographical location—spanning three key seas—to transform it into a strategic economic and logistical corridor.

In parallel with the summit, a business forum is being held to explore practical partnerships and investment opportunities. During the presidential panel, President Radev was accompanied by a Bulgarian business delegation and emphasized the critical role of the Three Seas Initiative in confronting today’s most pressing challenges.

Reflecting on the past decade, President Radev remarked:

“Few could have foreseen the scale of the crises Europe would face—from the pandemic to the energy shock and the ongoing war in Ukraine. These experiences underscore the urgent need for stronger regional cooperation and improved connectivity, particularly in transport, energy, and digital infrastructure.”

As the region continues to grapple with geopolitical and economic pressures, the Three Seas Initiative serves as a platform for unity, resilience, and coordinated growth. Bulgaria, through President Radev’s participation, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing shared priorities and contributing to a more connected and competitive Central and Eastern Europe.
