Central Asia–Russia Security Council Secretaries Hold Meeting in Moscow

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: A meeting of the Secretaries of Security Councils in the “Central Asia–Russia” format was held in Moscow, bringing together senior officials from regional countries to discuss issues related to security, stability and regional cooperation.

According to reports, Yusuf Rahmon, Secretary of the Security Council of the Tajikistan, participated in the meeting alongside representatives from Central Asian states and the Russia.

During the discussions, participants exchanged views on ensuring regional security and stability, reviewed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Central Asian countries and Russia, and examined measures to strengthen coordination in response to contemporary threats and challenges.

The participants highlighted the important role of the “Central Asia–Russia” format in promoting constructive dialogue and developing coordinated approaches to key regional issues.

Special attention was paid to the outcomes of the second “Central Asia–Russia” Summit, held on October 9, 2025, in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation.

The meeting underscored the significance of the documents adopted during the summit, particularly the Joint Action Plan for 2025–2027, aimed at expanding cooperation in the fields of security, economy, transport, digitalisation and green energy.

Participants also discussed joint efforts to combat international terrorism and extremism, transnational organised crime, illicit drug trafficking, and threats in the information and communications sphere.

In his address, Yusuf Rahmon reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to strengthening mutual trust, good-neighbourly relations and collective responses to modern threats.

He stressed that under the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon, comprehensive measures are being implemented to enhance national and regional security, expand international cooperation and strengthen the capacities of relevant institutions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation within the “Central Asia–Russia” framework and continuing practical collaboration on issues of shared interest.
