Chairman of Uzbek Senate Meets with ILO Director General to Discuss Enhanced Cooperation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, held a meeting with the Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Gilbert Houngbo, who is on a business visit to Uzbekistan, according to Uzbek media.

During the meeting, Houngbo praised the effective cooperation between the ILO and Uzbekistan, congratulating the country on its election to the ILO Administrative Council. He emphasized that Uzbekistan has made significant progress due to the strong political will and commitment of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The discussion highlighted the achievements of Uzbekistan’s 2021-2025 national program on decent work, which has set a benchmark for many countries worldwide. Both parties also exchanged views on developing the Decent Work Program project for 2026-2030, aligning with the tasks set at the 112th session of the ILO and the priorities of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to further develop cooperation in reducing the gender gap in the labor sector, combating discrimination, ensuring employment for persons with disabilities, and creating comfortable and appropriate working conditions for them.
