China Seeks to Renew Traditional Friendship and Strengthen Cooperation with Italy

Rome, The Gulf Observer: China has expressed its willingness to renew its traditional friendship with Italy, enhance political mutual trust, deepen economic and trade cooperation, and promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges, according to Yin Li, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

During his visit to Italy from May 25 to 28, Yin, who led a CPC delegation at the invitation of the Italian Democratic Party, underscored the strong bilateral relations between China and Italy, guided strategically by their respective heads of state. He highlighted the high level of mutual trust and close cooperation that have characterized their relationship.

In meetings with key Italian officials, including Senate President Ignazio La Russa, Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, head of the Italian Democratic Party’s foreign affairs department Giuseppe Provenzano, Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, and Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, Yin emphasized the importance of this year, marking the 20th anniversary of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership. He expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Italy to promote global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Yin, also the secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, reiterated Beijing’s commitment to implementing the important agreements reached by the leaders of both countries, thereby injecting fresh momentum into China-Italy relations through subnational cooperation.

The Italian counterparts acknowledged the profound friendship between the two ancient civilizations and expressed their commitment to maintaining an open attitude towards facilitating exchanges at various levels. They emphasized the importance of cooperation in green transformation, the digital economy, culture, and tourism, and welcomed more Chinese enterprises to invest in Italy. The Italian side voiced confidence that Italy-China cooperation would contribute positively to global development.

During his stay, Yin also visited the China-Italy Technology Transfer Center and the Capitoline Museums, focusing on initiatives to build centers for science and technology innovation and cultural exchange.
