Direct Passenger Rail Service Restored Between Azerbaijan and Georgia

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Direct railway passenger service between Azerbaijan and Georgia has officially resumed after the first passenger train from Baku arrived in Tbilisi, marking the restoration of direct rail communication between the two neighboring countries.

A welcoming ceremony for the inaugural train was held at the Tbilisi Railway Station, attended by railway officials and invited guests celebrating the revival of the international passenger route.

According to the announced timetable, the train will depart from Tbilisi at 21:00 local time and is scheduled to arrive in Baku at 06:24 the following morning.

The railway route will be operated using modern passenger trains manufactured by Stadler Rail Group. The trains consist of contemporary sleeping cars designed to provide passengers with enhanced travel comfort and improved onboard services.

Travelers on the route will have access to comfort, comfort+ and luxury class accommodations.

Officials stated that the new-generation trains feature upgraded interiors, personalized passenger services, and modern travel conditions that meet international standards, offering a significantly improved railway experience for passengers traveling between Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The restoration of direct rail links is expected to strengthen regional connectivity, facilitate tourism and business travel, and further enhance economic and cultural ties between the two South Caucasus nations.
