Dubai

Dubai, The Gulf Observer: The 12th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) will be held on October 21-22 at the Dubai World Trade Centre under the theme, “From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy,” bringing together global leaders, policymakers, investors and sustainability experts to advance climate action and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the summit is organised by the World Green Economy Organisation, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

The event is expected to attract decision-makers, business leaders, investors, infrastructure specialists and representatives from governments, the private sector and academia to discuss practical and scalable solutions for sustainable development.

According to organizers, the summit will focus on effective strategies to accelerate the adoption of climate solutions while strengthening the relationship between economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Speaking ahead of the event, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said the World Green Economy Summit has established itself as a leading international platform for advancing dialogue on climate change and unifying global efforts to promote a sustainable green economy.

He noted that since its inception, the summit has supported Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision of positioning Dubai as a global hub for future-focused solutions and a centre for building partnerships that drive climate action and sustainable development worldwide.

Al Tayer emphasized that the global green transition has moved beyond aspiration and is now a reality, supported by proven technologies and innovative business models capable of delivering measurable and scalable results.

WGES 2026 will focus on accelerating the deployment of climate solutions and expanding successful sustainability models to strengthen resilience and support economic growth across multiple sectors. Organizers said the event aims to move beyond highlighting success stories and instead concentrate on scaling their implementation and impact.

The summit’s agenda will be built around four key pillars: energy technology and infrastructure, business strategy and transition, water and food security, and finance. Discussions will also address cross-cutting themes such as artificial intelligence as a key enabler of climate projects, governance frameworks that bridge ambition and implementation, and system enablers including supply chains and the circular economy.

Organizers said the summit will showcase how the green transition is already progressing through the adoption of innovative solutions in clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, green finance, and water and food security. These efforts contribute to global climate and development objectives while reinforcing the leadership of the United Arab Emirates and Dubai in advancing practical and scalable climate action initiatives.
