In a statement released on Wednesday, Erdogan stated that the deal holds the promise of “permanent peace and stability,” which would benefit both the “Palestinian brothers and sisters” and humanity at large. He praised the “heroic people of Gaza” for their resilience in defending their lands and freedoms against what he called “Israel’s unlawful and inhumane attacks.”
Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering support for Palestinians in their fight against oppression, pledging continued assistance in Gaza’s reconstruction efforts. “We will mobilize all our resources to help Gaza heal its wounds and stand back on its feet,” he declared.
The Turkish president also commemorated the lives lost in Gaza during the ongoing conflict, concluding his statement with a prayer for the success of the ceasefire agreement. Türkiye has consistently maintained a strong diplomatic stance throughout the conflict, condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza and providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians.
The ceasefire announcement comes on the 467th day of the conflict, which has claimed over 156,000 lives, predominantly women and children, with more than 11,000 people still missing. The war has left widespread destruction and caused a severe humanitarian crisis in one of the worst global disasters in recent history.
