Erdoğan Supports ICC Arrest Warrants for Israeli Leaders, Urges Global Action on Palestine
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has endorsed the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, hailing the move as a “courageous step” toward restoring trust in international systems.
Speaking at the 4th International NGO Fair on Saturday, Erdoğan emphasized the need for global adherence to the ICC’s decision. “To restore humanity’s confidence in the international system, we consider it important that all countries that are parties to the agreement implement this courageous decision,” he stated.
Erdoğan accused international organizations and the global media of ignoring crimes against humanity in regions such as Palestine and Lebanon. He criticized nations advocating for democracy and human rights while supporting Israel, accusing them of failing to prevent massacres and genocide.
“The blood of Palestinians stains not only their killers but also those who remain silent,” Erdoğan said, expressing deep frustration with global inaction.
Call for Unity in the Islamic World
The Turkish President urged Islamic nations to overcome internal divisions and adopt a unified stance in defense of Palestinian rights. “As the Islamic world, we should put aside our differences of opinion and take a common stance and act united,” he remarked. He also reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to protecting Jerusalem within an international security framework.
Despite facing pressure from pro-Israel groups, Erdoğan asserted that Türkiye’s position on Palestine remains resolute. “Despite all the campaigns against us, all the pressure from the Zionist lobby and supporters of Israel, our stance has not shifted in any manner,” he declared.
Condemnation of Gaza Violence
Erdoğan condemned the ongoing Israeli strikes in Gaza, citing reports of 120 Palestinians killed and 205 injured over the past two days. He accused “privileged actors of the international system” of destabilizing the Islamic world for their own benefit.
In a forward-looking appeal, the Turkish President called for collective responsibility to create a better future. “If we want to leave a safer, more just, and compassionate world for our children and youth, we must all take responsibility,” he concluded.
Erdoğan’s remarks underline Türkiye’s continued advocacy for Palestinian rights amid escalating tensions in the region.
