Qatar Joins Global Coalition for Digital Safety
Doha, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) announced on Saturday that Qatar has officially joined the Global Coalition for Digital Safety. The decision was unveiled during the coalition’s 11th meeting, held on November 21, 2024.
The announcement was made as His Excellency Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, participated in the meeting via video conference. Representatives from member states and international organizations dedicated to digital safety also attended.
Joining the coalition highlights Qatar’s commitment to global efforts in enhancing digital security and fostering a safer digital environment.
Minister’s Address
In his remarks, H.E. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai underscored the importance of international cooperation to tackle the growing challenges of the digital landscape. He emphasized that Qatar’s membership reflects its dedication to shaping inclusive global policies and fostering international partnerships to promote digital safety.
“Qatar remains steadfast in adopting cutting-edge technologies and developing national laws to mitigate digital risks,” said H.E. the Minister. He added that the coalition membership would enable Qatar to exchange expertise with other nations and align with global objectives to build a sustainable and secure digital society.
