Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Convenes in Almaty
Almaty, The Gulf Observer: The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council has commenced its session in Almaty, bringing together the heads of government from member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Media reports confirm the presence of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarus Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, 1st Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kassymaliyev, Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
As part of the session’s agenda, the heads of government visited the Digital Almaty-2024 digital exhibition, showcasing the innovative projects of more than 300 Kazakhstani and international IT companies, alongside insights from leading global digitalization experts.
The discussions at the Council are expected to center around the current state and future prospects of the EAEU integrated information system. Additionally, there will be a focus on formulating an action plan to foster favorable conditions for the development of intra-EAEU e-trade. Integrated cooperation among the EAEU railways will also be deliberated to enhance connectivity and efficiency in the regional transport sector.
Armenia, having assumed the chairmanship over the Eurasian Economic Union governing bodies on January 1, is set to preside over the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, and Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission for the next year. The leadership transition marks a collaborative effort among member states to further strengthen economic ties and advance joint initiatives within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The discussions and decisions made during this session are anticipated to contribute to the ongoing regional integration efforts, fostering mutual economic growth and cooperation among the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. The Council serves as a crucial platform for dialogue, exchange of ideas, and collaborative decision-making to address the evolving economic landscape in the Eurasian region.
