FIFA President Praises Newly Reconstructed Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Morocco

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: FIFA President Gianni Infantino, accompanied by Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) President Fouzi Lekjaa, toured the newly reconstructed Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat on Monday, praising it as one of the most modern and innovative football stadiums in the world.
Speaking during the visit, the FIFA chief lauded the stadium as a symbol of Morocco’s dynamic progress and its ambitious vision for the future of football. “A football stadium today is much more than just a place to play football. It is a symbol for a country and a place to unite people, and this particular stadium is already a true jewel, showing the modern Morocco — a country projecting itself into the future and choosing football to unite the world,” Infantino noted in a social media statement.
The stadium, completely rebuilt after the original structure was demolished in the summer of 2023, stands as a cornerstone of Morocco’s long-term football development strategy. Its reconstruction reflects the nation’s aspiration to become a central hub for global and continental football events.
Strategically significant beyond domestic competition, the venue is scheduled to host a semi-final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Morocco alongside Spain and Portugal. Moreover, the stadium is also expected to play a central role in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where it will host several key matches.
Infantino’s visit underscores FIFA’s recognition of Morocco’s ongoing efforts to modernize its football infrastructure. The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium exemplifies the country’s strong commitment to developing world-class sporting facilities and its growing stature as a preferred destination for major international football tournaments.
