Global Leaders Extend Chinese New Year Greetings to China

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: As the Chinese people around the world celebrated the Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, foreign leaders from across the globe sent their warmest wishes, extending greetings for a prosperous and joyous Year of the Snake.
In Benin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Olushegun Adjadi Bakari met with Chinese Ambassador to Benin Zhang Wei on Tuesday, where he conveyed his best wishes to the Chinese government and people. “Happy Spring Festival! As Chinese communities in Benin and around the world are celebrating the Chinese New Year, I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize the great importance we attach to the strong and enduring friendship between Benin and China,” Bakari remarked. He also highlighted the cultural parallels between the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac and the Beninese serpent deity, Dan, symbolizing wisdom, wealth, and harmony, reinforcing the shared values between the two nations.
In Fiji, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka sent a heartfelt video message wishing the Chinese people and overseas Chinese communities a joyous and prosperous Chinese New Year. He emphasized that the values of renewal, hope, and prosperity during the Spring Festival resonate deeply with the Fijian spirit. He also expressed gratitude to the overseas Chinese for their contributions to Fiji’s development.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel also shared a video message, extending sincere Chinese New Year wishes on behalf of the Cuban government and people. He reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to strengthening the China-Cuba partnership and advancing a community with a shared future.
Guyanese President Irfaan Ali, in his message, extended best wishes to the Chinese people for peace, prosperity, and good luck in the Year of the Snake. He expressed his government’s support for the strong ties between Guyana and China.
In El Salvador, Vice President Felix Ulloa sent his warm wishes for the Year of the Snake, noting the symbolic vitality of the snake in the Chinese zodiac. He expressed hope that the year would bring prosperity, health, and happiness to all Chinese families.
Finally, Honduran Second Vice President Doris Gutierrez sent her Spring Festival greetings, reaffirming Honduras’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and bilateral relations with China for mutual benefit. She wished the Chinese people an auspicious Year of the Snake.
