Harris Calls for Gaza Cease-Fire as Trump Attacks Her on Israel Stance
Washington, The Gulf Observer: During their first presidential debate on Tuesday, Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump accused Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris of harboring an anti-Israel stance. Trump asserted that if Harris were elected president, Israel’s existence could be jeopardized.
In his remarks, Trump criticized Harris for allegedly refusing to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his Congressional address and suggested that her policies could lead to dire consequences for Israel and the broader region. “She hates Israel,” Trump claimed. “If she’s president, I believe that Israel will not exist within two years from now.”
Trump also expressed his belief that the wars in Gaza and Ukraine would not have occurred under his presidency, reinforcing his position with strong rhetoric against Harris’s foreign policy stance.
In response, Harris firmly rejected Trump’s accusations, asserting her longstanding support for Israel. “That is absolutely not true,” Harris stated. “I have my entire career and life supported Israel and the Israeli people.” She emphasized Israel’s right to defend itself but also underscored the need for a cease-fire and the protection of innocent lives, including Palestinians.
Harris reiterated her commitment to working towards a cease-fire and securing the release of hostages, while also advocating for a two-state solution to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “It is also true far too many innocent Palestinians have been killed. Children, mothers. What we know is that this war must end. It must end immediately. And the way it will end is we need a cease-fire deal, and we need the hostages out,” she said.
