Samarkand Forum Strengthens Uzbekistan-China Women’s Innovation Ties

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: The historic city of Samarkand played host to the International Women’s Forum titled “The Great Silk Road in Our Hands – Cooperation Between Uzbekistan and China in Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, where broad discussions were held on supporting and advancing women’s initiatives in the modern economy.

The high-profile event brought together prominent figures including Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairwoman of the Committee on Family and Women, Zulaykho Mahkamova; Vice-Chairperson of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and President of the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Ms. Shen Yueyue; as well as the Vice President of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs, representatives from the Shaanxi Provincial Women’s Federation, around 40 Chinese women entrepreneurs, and deputy ministers of Uzbekistan.

The forum underscored the priority that New Uzbekistan places on respect for human dignity and the protection of women’s rights and interests. Participants highlighted the increasingly active role of Uzbek women as not only the spiritual anchors of their families, but also as innovators, leaders of transformative projects, dynamic entrepreneurs, and key actors in the nation’s political and socio-economic development.

The event served as a vital platform to enhance interregional cooperation within the “Women of the Silk Road” format. Concrete outcomes included more than 10 signed agreements aimed at bolstering joint projects in innovation and entrepreneurship between Shaanxi Province and various regions of Uzbekistan.

Following fruitful discussions and negotiations, a final Declaration was adopted, affirming mutual commitment to long-term collaboration in empowering women and supporting sustainable development. The forum marks a significant step forward in strengthening Uzbekistan-China ties through the lens of gender-inclusive innovation and enterprise.
