Heydar Aliyev International Airport Sets New Records in July 2024

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Heydar Aliyev International Airport continues to break records, serving over 815,000 passengers on 6,171 flights in July 2024, a 23% increase compared to July last year, when 663,000 passengers were served, according to NHC.

Of the total passengers transported on international routes, 52% were carried by foreign airlines, with the remaining passengers flying on the national air carrier, Azerbaijan Airlines. Foreign airlines transported more than 380,000 passengers, while Azerbaijan Airlines carried 351,000 passengers. Additionally, the national air carrier operated 745 flights to Nakhchivan, serving over 85,000 passengers.

The number of transit passengers also saw a significant increase, nearly tripling compared to July 2023, reaching 36,000 passengers. This highlights the growing strategic importance of Baku Airport as a key transit hub.

The most popular international destinations from Baku include Istanbul, Moscow, Dubai, Tbilisi, and Abu Dhabi, with more than 320,000 passengers traveling on these routes.

Overall, in the first seven months of 2024, Baku Airport served over 4.204 million passengers, marking a 36.2% increase compared to the same period last year.
