Indonesia, Singapore Strengthen Cooperation on Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi held a bilateral meeting with Singapore’s Minister of Social and Family Development (MSF) Masagos Zulkifli to enhance cooperation in women’s empowerment and child protection.
“I believe that our partnership will not only bring benefits to Indonesia and Singapore but also inspire other countries,” Fauzi stated on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Minister Fauzi highlighted Indonesia’s key priority programs under the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. These include the establishment of the Indonesian Common Space (RBI), the expansion of the Women and Children Friends (SAPA) 129 call center, and the development of a village-level unified data system for women and children.
“I hope that in the future, the cooperation between the Ministry and MSF can help us develop and refine these three priority programs,” Fauzi remarked.
She also proposed the creation of joint programs between the PPPA Ministry and MSF, involving other ASEAN countries to strengthen regional commitment towards women’s empowerment and child protection.
“With the hope that it can demonstrate ASEAN’s commitment and synergy in the development of women and children,” she added.
Fauzi noted that the partnership between Indonesia and Singapore in this sector has been well-established, citing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on November 8, 2022, between the PPPA Ministry and MSF on women’s empowerment, child protection, and family development. However, as the MoU expired in November 2024, she expressed hope for its renewal.
“We certainly hope that this MoU can be reactivated as its scope is still very relevant to the needs and challenges faced by both countries,” Fauzi stated.
Additionally, she recalled the successful collaboration between the two ministries in co-hosting side events at the 67th and 68th sessions of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which were attended by delegations from various countries.
The bilateral meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to strengthening synergies in promoting gender equality and protecting the rights of women and children in the region.
