Iran and Japan Aim to Strengthen Scientific and Technological Collaboration
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Hossein Simaei Sarraf, highlighted the importance of enhancing scientific and technological collaboration between Iran and Japan during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Iran, Tamaki Tsukada, on Tuesday.
Simaei Sarraf noted that the foundations of scientific cooperation between the two nations have been established over time, with several Iranian officials and academics having graduated from Japanese institutions. He expressed Iran’s interest in continuing and deepening these ties moving forward.
The Minister emphasized Tehran’s readiness to exchange experiences with Japan in humanities disciplines, including Islamic studies and Persian language, areas that are of significant interest to Japanese students.
Ambassador Tsukada acknowledged Japan’s existing environmental ties with Iran and expressed optimism about the potential for their development. He pointed out that both nations are leaders in nanotechnology research, with Iran ranking fifth and Japan fourth globally, indicating a promising avenue for expanding bilateral collaboration in this crucial field.
Simaei Sarraf is set to participate in the 21st Annual Meeting of the Science and Technology in Society Forum, scheduled to take place in Kyoto from October 6-8, 2024, which is expected to further bolster discussions on scientific cooperation.
