Iran Backs Diplomatic Solution for Lasting Peace in Yemen
New York, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s support for a peaceful resolution to the Yemen crisis through diplomatic channels, rejecting accusations by Washington that Tehran is exacerbating the conflict.
In a letter addressed to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday, the Iranian mission categorically denied the U.S. allegations, emphasizing that the crisis in Yemen must be settled through a comprehensive political process that upholds the country’s independence, national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
The statement underscored Iran’s longstanding position that sustainable peace in the region can only be achieved without foreign intervention. It further criticized Washington, asserting that the U.S. cannot deflect attention from its own complicity in regional conflicts by leveling accusations against Tehran.
