Almaty, The Gulf Observer: Almaty witnessed a significant two-day meeting attended by representatives from the railways of Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan. The discussions focused on establishing favorable through-tariff conditions for seamless transit through Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Iran, according to News Hub Consultants.
During the meeting, the participants assessed cargo transportation results via the Bolashak border station in Kazakhstan. Additionally, they explored measures to enhance the appeal of the North-South transport corridor, aiming to boost trade and logistics efficiency.
All parties reaffirmed their commitment to increasing transportation volumes and fostering continued cooperation. The discussions culminated in the signing of a protocol, encapsulating the agreements reached.
The North-South Corridor is a crucial multimodal transport route spanning 7,200 kilometers. It serves as an alternative connection between Europe, the Persian Gulf nations, and the Indian Ocean, bypassing the Suez Canal for enhanced trade connectivity.
