Iran Voices Support for Elevating Asia Cooperation Dialogue to International Status

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, affirmed the country’s support for efforts aimed at transforming the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) into an international organization. This statement was made during a meeting with Nasser Al-Mutairi, the Secretary General of the ACD, in Tehran on Tuesday.

Al-Mutairi provided a detailed update on the ongoing activities within the regional bloc, particularly following a recent foreign ministerial meeting in Tehran and the ACD Summit in Doha. He commended Iran’s significant contributions during its rotating presidency of the ACD and highlighted the organization’s role in bolstering cooperation among its member states.

In his response, Minister Araghchi recognized the ACD’s instrumental role in fostering collaboration across Asia. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting the expansion of the organization into an international entity, emphasizing its potential to further strengthen regional ties.

Furthermore, Araghchi praised Kuwait for its pivotal role in hosting the ACD’s secretariat and for the country’s continued support of the organization’s efforts to promote unity and cooperation across Asia.
