Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran and President Vladimir Putin of Russia reaffirmed their commitment to fully implementing the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during a telephone conversation held on Tuesday.
The two leaders reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, expressing satisfaction with the growing cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.
President Pezeshkian and President Putin commended the constructive and friendly nature of ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, particularly noting steady progress in monetary and banking affairs, rail and road transportation, and energy cooperation.
Both sides emphasized the strategic significance of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was signed on January 17, 2024, as a milestone in the expansion of political, economic, commercial, and security cooperation over the next two decades. The treaty is also designed to reduce the impact of U.S. sanctions and enhance collaboration in military and political fields.
At the beginning of the conversation, President Putin conveyed his condolences over the deadly explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran last month. President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Russia’s support and assistance during firefighting operations in the aftermath of the incident.
Additionally, President Putin voiced hope for the success of ongoing indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, adding that Russia stands ready to provide technical support in facilitating the talks.
The reaffirmation of mutual commitments underscores both nations’ shared vision for deepened strategic alignment amid evolving regional and global dynamics.
