Iranian President Condemns Israeli Strikes on Lebanon, Calls Attacks “Shameful”
New York, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli air strikes against Lebanon, describing the attacks as “shameful” and denouncing the targeting of innocent women and children. The president made his remarks during a meeting with leaders of various divine religions in New York, where he is scheduled to address the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Pezeshkian expressed his dismay at the stark contradiction between the United Nations’ principles of peace and justice and the violence unfolding in Lebanon. Since Monday, Israeli air strikes have reportedly claimed the lives of at least 558 people, including 50 children, adding to the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.
“In Lebanon, women, children, men, and the elderly are being bombed, while those responsible call themselves civilized. This is shameful,” Pezeshkian stated, pointing to the suffering of civilians caught in the conflict.
The Iranian president also criticized the global discourse surrounding human rights, saying, “We live in a world where they talk about freedom, humanity, and human rights, yet they bomb people and destroy them.”
Pezeshkian underscored that true coexistence among nations can only be achieved through respect for rights and justice, urging the international community to act in alignment with these values to prevent further bloodshed and oppression.
His statements come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and growing calls for international intervention to halt the violence.
